Phoenix Ski Club

…….where one good turn deserves another!

Charities we support

At our annual retreat, the Board of Directors selects which charities the club will support for the upcoming year.  For the 2018/19 year, the Phoenix Ski Club proudly supports the following charities:

In 1993, the Phoenix Ski Club adopted a 2 ½ mile stretch of highway from the Saguaro Lake Road (Bush Highway) junction with the SR 87 (Beeline Highway) to the Saguaro Lake overflow parking area.  Since that time, the club routinely picks up the trash twice a year – fall and spring.  From 1993 until the spring of 2014, Anna and Gary Pfender coordinated our clean-up events.  From 2014 - 2018, Debby and Paul Castaldo coordinated this for the club.  With the creation of the club's Environment Stewardship Committee, this effort will now fall under this committee, being led by Bill Behnke.

Shoebox Ministry, Inc.

Founded in 1988 with a specific goal of meeting the personal hygiene needs of the homeless and working poor. They are the only agency in the greater Phoenix area that focuses on meeting this very important need by distributing toiletry kits through agencies and shelters that work directly with the homeless and working poor.  The Phoenix Ski Club will support their efforts by donating items that make up the kits provided.  Each month, our members will be asked to donate a specific item defined in the "Shoebox Kit Recipes".   People bring in their donations to the PSC General Meeting and from there, the coordinator delivers them to the Shoebox Ministry.  Coordinating our effort is Rebecca Wainscott Longwell

Below are the "Recipes" for the kits.

Sojourner Center is committed to transforming lives and creating a world free from domestic violence.  Linda Sugarman will be coordinating our efforts for this charity and more information will be forthcoming.

The Phoenix Ski Club has supported Toys for Tots by having members bring toys to our annual Holiday Party.  We will do this again in December of 2018.  Watch for more info!

The mission of the Phoenix Rescue Mission is to fight hunger and homelessness in Phoenix.  As plans are developed for this charity, they will be shared with the membership.
